Guided tour through the most important monument of Santiago de Compostela.

The guided tour of Santiago de Compostela’s Museum and Cathedral is based on the Cathedral’s history and the Apostle’s tomb. The heart of the entire city with the same name. During the visit you will see how the Cathedral evolved through the centuries and learn how important was the discovery of Santiago’s tomb and how it affected all of Europe in the Middle Ages.

The first part of the guided visit commences at the Cathedral’s Museum, visiting its four floors in ascending order. The first floor stands out for its achaeological rooms, the second floors holds the library where the priceless valued Códice Calixtino is also kept and the Chapter Hall. On the third floor the access to the balcony that overlooks Obradoiro Square is found, as well as the cloister and the cemetery. Last but not least the fourth floor is reached. Here we will see the entire collection of the Cathedral’s treasured tapestries.

Afterwards the second part of the tour begins by directly accessing the interior of the Cathedral without waiting online. We will talk about the Pórtico de la Gloria and we will tour the Cathedral’s transepts. On the way we will see the many inner chapels, the Botafumeiro, the Baroque organs, the Apostle’s crypt and as the tradition calls for, we will embrace the Apostle’s image situated at the Main Altar.
